Shanghai World Expo 2010
The World Expo 2010 in Shanghai was the largest Expo ever held and attracted some 70 million visitors. Its aim was to build new trade relationships between China and the rest of the world with almost 250 countries and international organisations showcasing talent from across the globe. Liverpool was the only UK city to have a dedicated pavilion and working with the City Council, Liverpool Vision and the local development agency, Uniform were commissioned to design and build the exhibition space.
Our vision for the pavilion was to encapsulate the many exceptional traits Liverpool has to offer and articulate them in a truly interactive way. It was important for the exhibition to draw on the unique heritage, culture and people, whilst also portraying the great opportunities for new investment and growth. The entire space was designed to deliver relevant information that showcased the city in the most fun and engaging way. The results have been fantastic, with the pavilion attracting as many as 4,000 visitors a day; more than 770,000 visitors over the six-month time frame and 18% above our original target.
